External World & Media Images

We receive the media images through different mediums like newspaper, television and internet in our daily life. We usually receive the message of media images without thinking. Some of the media image deliver the stereotype "teach" us how you should be. But is it we want to be?

Here is one example to describe the media images detach from the external world. This is the television commercial about lady slimming. Let's take a look the twenty-five seconds clip.

As you can see, there have two different artists - Josie Ho and Janice Man on this television commercial. One is stylish, one is sexy. But they also have the slim body shape.
Josie Ho said: crazy and stupid to be have good figure.
Janice Man said: Lady were mean on their own body.
Josie Ho keep on said: Do not sell yourself short by a fat.
The above dialogue show the the ideal lady stereotype on their mind and tell us unconfident because of fat. That mean you want to be a confident lady, you should have the slim body shape like their. In last fifteen seconds, there have the close-up shot on Janice Man body to tell us even every part of your body it should slim. Also, elyze can help you fix your problem.

As this case, the television commercial tell us the confident lady should slim. The lady stereotype should like this. The slogan "Better Shape Better Me" let you remember who have better shape then also have a better yourself. But you should think about it is have the better shape will become a better yourself. That is a discrepancy between media image and external world.

  1. Dear Jazz, This is about the power of image (/advertisement). The problem is the writing style which does not help present your ideas precisely. The last concluding remark is difficult to understand. You also suddenly jump to the conclusion without any convincing reasons.
