It’s pathetic people confused private and public spaces

Everyone has a mobile phone now, even babies are playing their parents’ tablet. It shows that technology is very important and it is shaping our daily life. We can do almost everything on our mobile phone so it turns out everyone are phubbing. And that’s the reason makes private and public space become blurred because many people are using their phone on the MTR. It is supposing that people should do their work in their office or watching movies at home but they can do all of these by their mobile technologies. It is not hard to see people are doing these on the street or transport nowadays. Sometimes people are too concentrate on their business and it turns out bad or it will affect other people.
I have seen a guy in the MTR playing his games with his iPhone. Normally it is usual and nothing to judge. But suddenly that guy maybe lost his game and he shout foul language out loud. Other passengers and I are just shocked and wonder why do he need to just react exaggeration. If he played at home, I think he won’t disturb other people but sadly mobile technologies are too advanced. The result of the blurring of the boundary is bad to people’s day life for sure. Sometimes it is not only disturbing other passenger, it become an unhealthy phenomenon nowadays.

The problem is, it is not just affect the public, it will also affect the connective between people. If we still using mobile technologies which is confused the public and private space, we will easily ignore people or friends around us. I believe nobody like all their friends are using their mobile phone to communicate with each other instead of face to face talking. It will be absolutely dull and exhausting. Who want to live in a world like that?

  1. Dear Manho, This is a nice reflection. The reader is given a personal comment on the phubbing phenomenon. Rather than reiterating the common saying about the harm of technology, you can make your writing more indepth by mentioning whether people are totally controlled (i.e. they are passive) by mobile or people select their equipment proactively for their own purposes. Having said that, uses and gratifications theory may be appropriate.
