In this mediated world, everything is related to the media image, propaganda, advertisement by the media. Media is trying to shape our preconception, values to configure the world, the obvious example is ‘slim is beauty’.
To extent the effect of how the media image detached form the reality, here is an example. In the umbrella movement, news reporter captured the image that seven policemen were ‘punish’ the protester. In the first news report, the description of the news was ‘police suppressed the protester and beat up with him’, after few hours, the news was delete this sentence. The head of news department said it was the suspicion of the police battery with the protester.
According to the agenda setting theory by Max McCombs and Donald Shaw, media will influence public opinion and policymaking, hence that their concept of the world, value would change by receiving different massages. Media will select, omission and framing the stories, that means all we received from the media only if they want us to know. The messages that we are told plus our personal experience will form our own perception of reality. In this case, there two side of expressions.
Different point of view will interpret different result, left hand side is the side who are supporting police, right hand is the opposite one. Actually, the fact of all the value and conception is how the media disseminate the message to shape what you are thinking.

Dear Tsz Chung, The idea of media representation is shown here though the term is not used. In your example, the image is interpreted differently but there is tendency of mixing up the power of image and the use of different voice over. Clarification would make the writing more impressive.
