What is the message hidden in the medium?

In the 21 century, mobile technology has been well developed and world wild used. 

Nowadays, every one have smartphone on their hands. They communicate, text, send emails and search on internet with their small device. As smartphone is one of the media, it already told us how to well use with the smartphone. Is smartphone phone the message? Yes, probably.

Marshall McLuhan, the founder of the theory ‘medium is the message’, he believes that there are message hidden in the media, the content of the media is less important than the media itself. It drive us to do something, for example, Facebook, a social media platform for people to share their own life and make friends. The content on Facebook is not very important, you can see your friends eat dinner in somewhere, find a friend you lost contact couple of years. But how and why you can do it on Facebook, because Facebook is already a message telling you to do those things on their site. 

Back to smartphone, it is also a message and drive the technological determinism. Before smartphone was invented, people use computer to access internet, send email and work. When smartphone had been promoted to the market, there was a bit feedback with smartphone. It totally change the habit of using phone.It combines phone, email and internet into one device. The revolution of phone was succeed. In nowadays society, people hold least one smartphone, the extensive of smartphone, play games, text, communicate, it is no doubt to challenge the place of smartphone in the digital world.
